- calculating drug quantities anesthesia etc 1-18-2018 8:57am
- but this is fairly basic math 1-18-2018 8:58am

- measurements, dosage, payments, etc 1-18-2018 8:57am
- Analytic thinking is very important. 1-18-2018 8:57am
*+1*like- right, but you can have analytic thinking without being great at math. 1-18-2018 8:57am
*+1*like- not really 1-18-2018 8:59am
- Seemingly not 1-18-2018 9:04am
*+1*like- Lmao 1-18-2018 9:06am
- Why? Because you dispute whether Math is helpful in training our minds to think analytically? 1-18-2018 9:09am

- Lmao 1-18-2018 9:06am
- Agree w this 1-18-2018 9:14am

- Physics? Really? It is very strange how often physics has been mentioned recently on this board. 1-18-2018 8:57am
- I use math way more than physics in my medical career. 1-18-2018 8:59am
*+1*like- orthopedics is all about physics 1-18-2018 9:00am
- Kinda. But that’s a small subset of doctors. 1-18-2018 9:00am

- I think maybe understanding stats 1-18-2018 8:57am
- Is it that important past calculus? Do they need more math classes than that? 1-18-2018 8:58am
- Because you need to know how to figure out drug dosage among other things. 1-18-2018 8:58am
- yes, but this is simple math. 1-18-2018 8:59am
- There is more than that. Percentages, stats, varying measurements of body functions. It’s the ability to think at a higher level. 1-18-2018 9:00am
- I am wondering about this because I was terrible at math, but could do all of this extremely easily. 1-18-2018 9:01am
*+1*like,*-1*dislike- what math were you terrible at? 1-18-2018 9:01am
- ^once I got to calculus, I hit a wall, I was an A+ student in math until that point, great at biology and physics... 1-18-2018 9:01am
- Even a student that is not good at math can apply him/herself and pass a calculus class. If you can’t do this then the higher sciences would be difficult. 1-18-2018 9:03am
- It's just interesting to me considering I excelled at everything else. 1-18-2018 9:03am
- Np: I think calculus requires a much more abstract way of thinking than any math you study before in school. 1-18-2018 9:07am

- I did really well in pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, biology but really struggled with physics and organic/inorganic chemistry. I wasn't able to get into medical school. I...(more) 1-18-2018 9:02am did well in math and even received an award for being a top student in research statistics. I went into a related field but I still feel sad about medicine.
- Fwiw, docs are generally miserable in this current climate 1-18-2018 9:05am
- or: Well, I don't wish that on them. I did feel a calling from a very young age and wish I had figured out a way to make it happen. 1-18-2018 9:10am
