military personnel and veterans - to ask them to stand up and the audience applauds. Or they play "God Bless the USA" or songs like that. These are events unrelated to the military, not on a national holiday or anything. What are your thoughts on this? I have the greatest respect for our military and veterans and am not knocking acknowledging their service (and those of their families), but it just feels cheap to me at times, like the announcers or venue or organization do it to make themselves look good or please their fan base, at the expense of the military personnel. comedian asked military personnel to identify themselves by standing up, including veterans and asked all to clap. He stretched it out and it felt like he was using this to pad the length of his show. Just bothered me. Feels like this is happening more and more in various places.
