motherhood was kicking my ass and I refused to go. My mom and sister happened to be at our house at the time. There was this woman at his company, a scientist, who became friends with him since she's from the country of our heritage. We went out to dinner with her a couple times, been to each other's homes, etc. My parents happened to have met her once and decided that she was after dh and just took a dislike to her. The night that dh went to the work party she happened to call me to chat and when I got off the phone my mom and sister read me the riot act, saying she's obviously trying to see if you are going to be at the party to make a move on dh, and to get myself in the shower and go with my dh instead of handing him to that woman. I still laugh at that when I think of it.
