Neuropsych. eval.... (more)
Doing a NP for the first time at a teaching hospital. They gave me 5 forms to fill out and insist on ruling out ASD. I am not interested in finding that out. Can I refuse?

- np: My child is clearly not ASD. Why would I want to pay for that? NP never suggested our DD take that test...(more) 6-15-2016 10:46pm but maybe a teaching hospital giving low rate would want their students to give the full battery of tests.
- ^however if OP just "doesn't want to know" then that is not a good reason to refuse the test. 6-15-2016 10:58pm
- there isn't a special autism test. a neuropsych will include the same battery of tests no matter what 6-15-2016 10:58pm
- So how do NP's test for ASD? 6-15-2016 11:02pm

- What are you trying to find out? You REALLY need that piece. Otherwise any other diagnosis is nulled and treatment could be detrimental. 6-14-2016 9:59am +2 likes
- so you only want to get help for your dc if it's not autism but if it is autism you don't want to know and don't want help for that? 6-14-2016 10:00am
- I'm very curious why you are getting a np eval, but will not let them do the requisite investigation. Is there more to this background that you're not mentioning? i.e. - had...(more) 6-14-2016 10:58am +1 likeyour child previously had ASD ruled out? Even if he or she did, it's worth revisiting. The purpose of the np is to parse out your child's strengths and challenges. If you're not allowing them to get the whole picture, the report will be potentially flawed and kind of defeat the entire purpose.

- Neuro-psychological tests are used for people of all ages and not everyone is given the same group of tests. My oldest had an NP after having a concussion - a not uncommon reason,...(more) 6-15-2016 10:57pm
