He has been on and off stimulants that work for a while and then don't and no stimulants don't help at all. Risperdal is a wonder drug for him. Helps his anxiety, helps with attention and impulsivity and keeps his mood stable. The wight is just very upsetting.
DC only took Abilify and it was a miracle. She was on it for about 3 years and as she describes it, it gave her time to think before she just reacted in rage....(more)6-13-2016 6:44pm
She did not noticeably gain weight, i.e. since she was a growing child, of course she gained height and weight but she did not become overweight. She is no longer on it -she was better when she was on it - but because she is still doing pretty well without it, Doctor says leave her be.

badly she would have stayed on it. Instead she is now on an SSRI, not quite as stable but she is now a teen and far better able to understand why she reacts as she did (and occasionally does). We know the drug is there if she needs it in the future but it been a few years without it now.
