What do you think of someone who tells their children to "be obedient" when they misbehave? Neighbor says this to her DC, and then we were all outside and she said it to my DC...
when I called him over. "Run along, Timmy, be obedient!" I don't think it would have bothered me if she said "Listen to your mom, Timmy!" But that "be obedient" just rubs me the wrong way. Am I weird?

- ^^Our pediatrician is from the south. He tells my DS "be sweet to your mama, now!" I find it charming! 1-21-2016 5:32pm +1 like
- I grew up in the south and people say "be sweet." Never put it together but I think it probably is a regional expression 1-21-2016 5:38pm
- Why does that horrify MIL? Seems normal to me 1-21-2016 5:32pm
- I say "make good decisions" :) 1-21-2016 5:33pm
- I always think it's funny when some mom is yelling "make good choices!" at a tiny kid 1-21-2016 5:34pm
- I say it to my 14yo - it's necessary but goes in one ear and out the other 1-21-2016 5:35pm
- I mostly think it's funny when the kid is so small that they probably are not giving a lot of thought to their behavior. 1-21-2016 5:36pm
- it is odd 1-21-2016 5:36pm
- It's a dog word 1-21-2016 5:31pm

- np No, neighbor says it to HER kids, not op's. Who cares what people say to their own kids?! 1-21-2016 5:37pm
- OP: No, she said it to my DC today. Like 2 seconds after I called him over. That's what bugged me! 1-21-2016 5:41pm
