I know nothing of cancer language. Someone said there is a tumor, and it has spread to two different organs. What does that mean exactly? There is a tumor, but it spread.......
The tumor is the initial mass. The cancer cells from the tumor have spun off and have also shown up in the other two organs? Is that what it means? but not necessarily more tumors in those organs right? Maybe just little treatable spots or some cells, right?

- sounds like you know what you're talking about to me. 3-28-2013 8:48pm
- That is called a metastasis. At this point, the effectiveness of treatment may be in doubt. It also relates to the staging of the disease. I believe that spread to organs is...(more) 3-28-2013 8:49pm

- ^are you saying that in a case such as I have described, it's most likely stage 4/untreatable? It's really difficult for me to wrap my brain around this. 3-28-2013 9:02pm
- NP but that is correct. 3-28-2013 9:03pm
- No, remember there is a distinction betw. incurable and untreatable. Stage IV is treatable (i.e., treatments can slow down or stop tumor growth/spread) but it is not CURABLE. 3-28-2013 9:05pm
- Spread means from one organ to another. 3-28-2013 9:02pm
- np: what she's saying is that if it's moved into multiple organs, it's most likely stage 4. In the case of straight lung cancer, without spreading, then it's more likely to be...(more) 3-28-2013 9:04pm
- It spreading is really bad news. It can't just be little treatable spots because the fact that it's spreading means it's no longer contained in one tumor 3-28-2013 8:54pm
