I don't understand when parents say that a neuropsychologist "got" their child or "was spot on" with their child. I thought that a neuropsych evaluation used standardized testing. Can anyone give some insight on this? I guess I'm concerned that we may end up choosing a neuropsych that doesn't "get" our child and this will effect the results of the evaluation.
I just wonder if this is a case of a game of telephone, where a person's name gets mentioned and it takes on a life of its own. For a really accurate opinion, wouldn't the parent giving the opinion have to at least obtained 2 neuropsych evaluations, where one NP "didn't get" the child and the other "got" the child?
