CA where people would be 1.5 million dollar homes that were pieces of crap and tear them down. Are people still doing this?

yes, my DH grew up in Queens, people are buying lovely old houses, tearing them down, and building these huge ugly monstrosities with pillars and gold gates, it is so sad 11-2-2011 8:40pm
