don't find something else, I will come back to my current job while I continue to look - I don't want to go through period of unemployment. How do I handle? I heard from a friend that I shouldn't look for new job while on maternity leave, since current employment could ask me to repay my benefits (and my paid maternity leave).

about the current benefit. It's a perfectly find question to ask, you need to understand your benefits. My plan explicitly says that mat leave is benefit provided as compensation for past service. My friend works for a law firm that says any employee that quits within 6 mos returning from mat leave may have to pay it back.

leave is covered by disability insurance, so it's not dollar for dollar to you co
