I have a friend who baffles me. she applied her kid to all the top private school (dalton, trinity, HM) and got rejected by all, then moved into a good public district, HATES that...

school now, but won't get the kids into another school. she had her kids take all the g&T tests, and then put only anderson down as the option, so there were no spots. there have to be other options, right? All she does is complain about how terrible the school is (it's a good district) but then only sets the kids up for the hardest option and there is never an alternate plan

- sounds like a ton of people I know 7-14-2011 3:06pm
- not to be too devil's advocate-y but are your kids in the school? bc it could very well suck and be in a good district 7-14-2011 3:06pm
- op: I don't doubt it sucks--I have no idea. but she's been bitterly complaining for 3 years and yet does nothing except the g&t move, which got them nowhere. 7-14-2011 3:07pm
- she won't/can't accept that her dcs are not tt/g&t material. 7-14-2011 3:06pm
- I think to say that a child isn't "tt" material is ridiculous. This woman, and you, have bought into the hype. It's ridiculous. 7-14-2011 3:07pm
- i didn't buy into the hype, my dcs are in public school. There certainly are kids who are not smart/interesting/talented/good test takers according to these schools. 7-14-2011 3:09pm
- op: I just have a lot of backup plans in case things don't go according to my first choices. 7-14-2011 3:11pm
- in nyc you have to have a Plan a, b and c. 7-14-2011 3:12pm
