WWYD? DH, who just lost a 58k job, has two offers: one for 50k, and one for 75k with the potential for large bonuses if he performs well. The latter is for a 2yo website, and will come... (more)
with more intensity and responsibility, with a lot of pressure to increase page views. The potential payoff in terms of career trajectory is much greater, though--he will be in charge of launching and running a section of the site. However, DH is not someone who is good at multitasking and handling pressure well, and the first job is well within his comfort zone. He has just been diagnosed with ADD and has started meds and therapy, which will hopefully help with his issues, but I'd still be nervous about him taking the higher-paying job. He is tempted though, b/c of the $ and potential it offers. WDYT?

- we will cover our expenses with either job--but will be much more comfortable with the higher-paying one, of course 11-3-2010 10:57am
- That's very true, but IMO, having not been there, I would worry how he would adjust to a lot of high pressure and multitasking if it is not his strong suit and then maybe be fired and...(more) 11-3-2010 10:59am

- have faith in my dh and encourage him that he CAN do it. are you telling him you don't think he can handle it? 11-3-2010 10:52am
- no, he's really nervous about it. I should mention he was just fired from his last job b/c of his inability to organize and multitask and work effeciently. 11-3-2010 10:53am
- oh, that is vital information 11-3-2010 10:56am
- NP - I remember you. that was fast to get two more job offers! wow, he must be talented 11-3-2010 10:58am
- He has tons of connections--both of these jobs should be a much better fit than his last one, though. He's returning to editorial from a stint in PR. 11-3-2010 11:01am
- sounds like the firing thing just gave him a lack of confidence. 11-3-2010 11:02am

- You both need to have some confidence in him that he will exceed in the job with good potential 11-3-2010 10:52am
- He should take it and work it all out. 11-3-2010 10:52am
- 50K, too much pressure at the higher-paying one. Plus he just started treatment, so it might take years hor him to "rediscover" himself 11-3-2010 10:53am
- agree. he can always look for somethign else in the future IF he cannot move up internally 11-3-2010 10:55am
- honestly, the first one until he gets stabilized on his meds. he needs to feel good about himself before going outside his comfort zone. 11-3-2010 10:55am
- agree. you don't want him freaking out and quitting or screwing up 11-3-2010 10:57am
- Were you posting recently about your dh's imminent job loss? Congrats on him finding a new job!! Take the higher one and go for it! 11-3-2010 10:57am
- yep, that was me. Thanks! 11-3-2010 10:58am
- He should challenge himself. 11-3-2010 10:59am
- OP: thanks so much for the input! 11-3-2010 11:02am
