Have to share something with you guys because I still can't believe it. Last week, I went to visit my aunt and uncle who have a "lakehouse" in a little town in East Texas... (more)
called Pittsburg (about 2hrs east of Dallas). There were about 20 of us visiting them and not enough room in the house for everyone to sleep, so their neighbors offered their homes to my aunt's guests. All these homes are out in the country, about half a mile between them. We'd walk to each other's bunkhouses and check them out. You wouldn't believe the weird shit these people have - black, bosomy lawn jockeys in aunt jemima do-rags offering a platter of fruit as you get out of your car in the driveway. Another black lawn jockey holds the reigns of a horse and freaking BOWS to you as you enter the front porch. And their libraries - all Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, Pat Robertson, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, etc. And the Palin paraphernalia was everywhere. One house even had several books by people I've never heard of that glorified the work of the Klan in Louisiana and Texas. We're going back this Thanksgiving.....
