think he was dumbfounded by the numbers on children with Down Syndrome who are aborted. He is a black and white thinker and deeply moral and can't get his head around the idea that a woman's preference makes a life less valuable. I take him at his word and talk about values: that even if life begins at conception, we as a culture already acknowledge that there are other values that matter (for example, things we fight for in wars -- we decide that even though we know innocent human lives will be lost, there are other things that matter and are worth fighting for). And for me, I say, women's autonomy is a value that is that important.
