    • There will be a lot of writing in high school. My feeling is not to push kids like this- that they need to develop confidence and a good routine for work while work is manageable....(more) 2-27-2021 11:19am
      I've seen too many kids in over the heads, scrambling, behind, getting negative feedback, etc- and then mental health issues develop.

    • He's in the learning center at school. Receives SETSS (tutoring) at home. Gifted in math. SLD in written expression. 2-27-2021 11:21am

• we have a similar set up at our school ...levels are more 1,2,3 and 4...with 1 being skills level, 2 grade level, 3 advanced, 4 honors. I have a HS senior and a college...(more) 2-27-2021 11:20am
  sophomore. Both tried higher than 2 levels at various points and all it did was lower their GPA. Getting a B or B- in an advanced course does more harm than good. It doesn't sound like your kid is going to be going to a top 50 college so why stress him out? (I don't mean to sound disparaging ...my kids are/will be a colleges for B students

      in A classes later. I'd go with option two personally...but I think you have to present him with those options and let him chose.
