Wondering why Berkeley Carroll's college matriculation is not great when the students seem to win many awards. Why is this? Is it because the academics are not great, or are the students mediocre, or do the families not push for top colleges? Or do the very smart students leave? Does anyone with inside knowledge know what's going on. Thank you!

Park Slope HS kids can travel to Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn for good high schools, so they may not feel the need to stay local in Park Slope. It's not the kind of school that counsels out kids starting in 3rd or 4th grade to make space for top performing HS students. The Brooklyn Heights schools attract kids from Manhattan since it's easier to get to, so those schools have stronger HS students.

I have been struggling to find a good face mask for my kids and am so thrilled with the masks I purchased from barriere at www.mybarriere.com that I wanted to share. They are FDA/CE certified, semi-disposible but sustainably made and they come in really cute prints. Now more than ever I want to make sure that my family is wearing the most protective face masks possible and it is just a bonus that the prints are great and that they are really lightweight and comfortable. Highly reccomend for anyone looking for good face masks for adults and kids!

school is pretty well set up and has plans to meet the needs of the students they admit -- at least the schools I've seen implementing it over the past couple of years.

close schools in person is we get above a 3% positivity rate, even though he just agreed to that to placate the teachers union and there has been no documented spread of COVID in NYC public schools this fall. Science doesn't support closing at this point, but he's going to do it anyway and then come up with new rules on reopening for everyone to have to deal with.

getting rid of the screens doesn't solve the problem of schools not meeting the needs of students. You need to plan for all schools to add advanced classes and special ed supports. You need to think about how schools could work in consortiums to support each other. And a gazillion other things, but DeBlasio seems incapable to even own the need for these conversations, let alone the work of improving all our schools.

this is a pretty good study of the protections they have in place working. (versus what happens, for example, at a White House even, with no protections in place). isn't this a good thing suggesting that protections really work?

A man was going to the house of some rich person. As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road. He said, "I do not want to eat those apples; for the rich man will give me much food; he will give me very nice food to eat." Then he took the apples and threw them away into the dust. He went on and came to a river. The river had become very big; so he could not go over it. He waited for some time; then he said, "I cannot go to the rich man's house today, for I cannot get over the river." He began to go home. He had eaten no food that day. He began to want food. He came to the apples, and he was glad to take them out of the dust and eat them.
