NYC Schools
- NYC Schools Applying to Hills schools for HS. Not much info available about heads of uppers schools. Can anyone share feedback about leadership? thanks.
- Really doesn’t matter

- can only answer for fieldston as noted above principal is leaving for a HOS job at another school. He was fairly new so not many established relationships.
- How do upper school parents feel about it?
- I don't because he was still new, not very invested but more focused on stabilizing leadership

- NYC Schools Do you agree? I always thought if you can buy, then buy! Renting when you have enough money to buy is not smart imo. It's money down the drain and you never get it returned.
- But what about schools?
- What?
- The nyc schools?
- What?
- Depends on the amount of upkeep, etc. that you want.
- depends. some people buy and are paying huge interest payments, so they are really in a sense renting from the bank
- lol, no. you are a dolt
- Yes, we should have bought 5 years earlier and saved 100k.

- but won't you pay capital gains if you don't buy within two years of selling?
- Yes, I prefer to own.
- It depends on your profession. Many fluctuate. In banking many people need to stay liquid because bonus could be high one year and zero the next.
- np-Not a good excuse given these hhis...
- This is not always true. In NYC, it can be much more economical to rent than to buy, because you're renting from owners who bought ages ago. Then you invest the rest. I was...(more)
- ^I rented a 2br walkup in the East Village not long ago for $3500. It would have cost about a million to buy. Do the math.
- np: exactly. when you add in taxes, insurance and upkeep, you can often do better investing in the stock market and paying rent.
- yup.
- But what about schools?
- NYC Schools I know it's Trump land...but Jackson Hole is really wonderful.
- I didn't like it. Felt like the fake west for the rich. Regular people can only afford a trailer there or a treacherous long commute.
- more liberal part of Wyoming
- I have literally never thought this once. It’s gorgeous. Gorgeous.
- You sound uneducated
- If you consider New College (Oxford) undergrad and Columbia Law School uneducated then I suppose you're right.
- Exactly. You have a very tiny world view that only elite liberals share. There’s an entire world out there.

- ^^ have. Mostly student driven.
- So what will they do instead?
- Li k?
- Because it's racist
- The test itself? So everything hard is racist?
- Are you dumb generally or just being snarky on this issue/
- Neither. I don’t think testing for admissions is inherently racist. There should be more outreach and support, but a lottery for every school is not the answe either.

- Are private schools seeing more attrition this year than a regular year?
- Depends, not at most of the top schools.
- Are many students counseled out a TTs along the way - those accepted in K who as time goes by clearly are not doing well and not a good academic fit for the school?
