They were off on Friday and this Monday as well as today. Their website mentions that they inform the families the first two weeks of Feb. I have heard of some 7th grader applicants hearing about being waitlisted last week. So perhaps High School will be tomorrow.

How would you compare it to a city school like Friends or Trevor? Or is it more comparable to Fieldston, Riverdale because its a campus? Trying to understand who they are competing with. It seems like a good school and the college placements are basically the exact same as riverdale

    • Do you have this choice? I sort of doubt anyone has turned town Brearley for Nightingale although it might be the right decision for lots of girls. 2-7-2021 7:06pm

      • I know someone who has and it has worked great for their DD. We did choose Brearley and while I do not regret things were certainly not always easy. 2-8-2021 9:33am

Trust people to diss the school without giving reasons. FWIW out of all the NYC schools I was most impressed by Nightingale in terms of their creating a supportive and nurturing culture. The student ambassadors they chose to host the virtual interviews were also great. I did not know much about the school going in but pretty impressed with the school leadership and kids from what I have seen so far.

Yes it is not in the same tier of elite college placements as Brearley but it is still pretty good. About 40% of NBS seniors get into Top 25 schools vs about 55% for Brearley. That is about the same as Saint Ann's and noticeably more than Fieldston, Columbia Grammar & Prep, Packer.

      • My DD may have been your ambassador. She's very happy there. We didn't look at Brearley, so I can't offer a comparison, but she has friends who love it there. 2-8-2021 11:42am

This was for middle school admissions and our two hosts had admirable composure including handling a tech outage that dropped one of them. The culture of the school came across very clearly and positively in every single event. LOL on all the trolls claiming academics are not up to par. The school is placing 40% of its kids in Top 25 students vs 55% for Brearley. No one claimed it was a Brearley but that doesn't mean it is academically weak. I dislike the trolls who post without any factual basis or knowledge, that is the only reason I am responding.
