Ds went to a progressive preschool and preK and did pretty well. This year, we moved and he started K in a much more structured, traditional environment....

I thought it would be a disaster bc ds seemed to really flourish in the more progressive environment but, shock of shocks, he is really doing well. He doesn't mind sitting in the same desk every day (rather than picking his own seat) and all the rules. He also seems to like the much more overtly academic environment. Really surprisng to me. He has sensory issues and I thought for sure this would be too much.

chafe -- but he really seems to love it. It has only been a few weeks, but so far, so good. What a relief.

- Me too. This is why I was completely turned off when I toured a Montessori preschool - I could see it was going to be a very bad fit for my dc! 10-15-2008 10:23am
