I'm a first-time mom-to-be confused about crib bedding. What do I need exactly? I heard quilts and bumpers are unsafe, so why buy one of those bedding sets? I need a mattress,...

mattress pad, fitted sheet, and what else? Sheets and blankets or are you not supposed to use those either? TIA

- blankets for swadding only in the beginning, but as soon as they can roll you can use blankets 5-2-2011 1:46pm

- you can get the bumper that looks like a taut, mesh net. they can be useful when dbs get their legs stuck in them or try to bite the rails lying sideways as mine did. 5-2-2011 1:46pm

- my ped told me she has never seen a kid suffocate from a bumper but has seen broken/bruised/sprained arms and legs from getting caught in the crib. 5-2-2011 1:54pm
