  1. NYC Schools Florida Schooling?...(more) 8-15-2015 11:19am (3 replies)
Wasn't sure which forum to post in but hoping to get some feedback. We are planning to move to Florida in two years. Have two children that will be ready for Kindgarten by the time we move. Problem is I have heard many horror stories and negative feedback from teachers in NYC about the lack of good schooling in The Sunshine State. Is this true? We will be probably moving to South Florida, either East coast or West coast, still looking at many different areas before we make the move--Naples, Sarasota, Clearwater, Miami or Palm Beach area...Does anyone know how the schooling systems are in any of these locations? How are public schools vs. private or Catholic schools...Are there any good private Catholic schools you can recommend. We want to take a good look at all schools. Anyone know a list of all the best schools in Florida? Thank you

Thank you! Good question. He seeks sensory input by bumping into things and people and by putting things in his mouth. At times he makes loud noises for example when he wins a game he says "yea" but very amplified and hangs on to the "ea" so it ends up being a very loud scream. Overall he is a happy and friendly child, he does stuff to make people laugh and sometimes calls people variations of their name b/c he thinks its funny (though the other kids don't think they are funny.) He is entering pre-k and knows his letters and numbers and sounds to letters. We are working on sight words and he does not yet read. Thanks!!
