- dont succumb. kids need to learn in first grade- there's no rush
- It is silly. There is NO reason to teach dcs to read. My dd is 7 and reading at a 4th grade level right now. When she entered kindergarten, she barely knew the alphabet.
- I was you with my oldest (9yo), but the reading program at her school is intense and she was really behind the other kids going in and is still behind (receives reading help). My...(more)younger children went to a preschool that focused on reading and they are doing excellent in their classes at the same school. This particular school (private) is very hung up on words per minute and in 3rd grade a child should be reading 150 wpm - my dd is only around 125 and they are very concerned..... I kind of think it just didn't "click" for her yet, she does excellent in everything else though (spelling, math, science, etc.)

- I prefer Wildwood for a family vacation...more campy and crazy. You can visit Cape May for a Day, if you like.
- Nice, but pricey restaurants. But you can go further out and find some places. book early if you want to get a hotel with efficiency. fun for kids. kid-friendly. Nothing on the...(more)beach though. have to cross the road, which we didn't know at the time. All hotels are not located on the beach, but are directly in front with the main road in between.
