My kids had their (joint) bday...(more)party today (3 kids, all bdays within 2 weeks). We had a "no gifts" party, but asked people to bring/give rocks, bc our kids are going through a rock mania. Well, everyone interpreted that differently. People painted their rocks, let their kids paint them, brought huge rocks, tiny smooth polished stones, rocks from vacations, rocks from local parks, and every single one was totally unique and really gave something of the guest. Their time, sense of humor, artistic ability, whatever - all came through. After everyone left, my kids spread all the rocks out on the floor and loved on every single one. My 5 yo said, "Mom, if we ever move from this house, let's be sure to take the rocks with us" (because the rocks will be on display in our back yard). Totally silly thing, but it made us all SO HAPPY.
