- ok- in a remote place like a store it is different. my advice for that scenario: 1-empathasize "it seems like you are frustrated" "you seem upset" 2-offer solution: "how abt i...(more)this toy on a list here (scarp of paper or cellpone note) so we can remember it". 3-draw attention to something else (this is if #2 doesn't work) make a big fuss about something else. "oh my toe!" or "oh my goodness look at that!" . important thing is to calm him. later make sure to discuss and get eye contact and attention from him when talking abt the incident.
